Role of Diet in the Treatment of Fibroids

Nuts and oil seeds: Almonds, walnut and flax seeds are good sources of vitamin E and omega-3 fatty acids (walnut and flaxseeds). Vitamin E is an antioxidant and omega-3 fatty acids reduce insulin resistance, thus helping to maintain body weight and balancing oestrogen levels. Also, flax seeds have lignans which prevent excessive absorption of oestrogen. About 10 gm of nuts daily are considered sufficient and a teaspoon of flaxseeds daily with lukewarm water early in the morning help to relieve constipation and also helps to balance the hormones

Green Tea: Polyphenols found in green tea, help to counteract the effects of oestrogen. 2-3 cups daily are required to get sufficient polyphenols for best results.

GET enough Vitamin D: Research suggests that vitamin D may reduce the risk of developing fibroids by about 30 percent. Vitamin D is produced in the body naturally on exposure to Sun light. Vitamin D is also found in egg yolk, cod liver oil and sea fish such as salmon, tuna and mackerel. Including about 100 gm of one of these in diet thrice a week and daily exposure to morning sun is required.

Water: Water is the ultimate to detox the system and about 8-10 glasses of water daily will do the trick.
