Most of you must have heard a word BMR !!

What is BMR?
Before knowing about BMR, you must know what is total energy expenditure.
Total energy expenditure is the amount of calories burned by human body in one day to perform various functions.
Total daily energy expenditure has 3 components: Thermic effect of food, Physical activity, BMR.
1. Thermic effect of food is the amount of calories burned to digest food; 10% of total calories
2. Physical activity:25%-35% of the calories are burned while doing any physical activity.
3. BMR: 75% of calories burned by human body to maintain vital functions such as:-
● Breathing
● Blood circulation
● Brain and nerve function
● Maintain the strength of your muscle
● Digestion, etc.
If a person has high BMR then he/she will burn more calories while performing any work but if the person has low BMR then he/she will not burn enough calories while performing any work.

BMR or Basal Metabolic Rate
In normal terms- energy utilized by the body to perform any function or work even at rest.
