How Important are Vitamins!!
VITAMIN C: (Ascorbic Acid):
Deficiency causes bleeding gums and pains in various joints. It is an antioxidant important for immune system
Vitamin D:
(7- Dehydro Cholesterol gets converted into D3) important for bone healths
Vitamin E:
(Tocopherol) necessary for skin integrity and the reproductive organs. It is a strong antioxidant which helps the body to get rid of the free radicals which are the cause of many chronic diseases.
Vitamin K:
Helps in blood clotting and avoids hemorrhagic conditions.
However, excess of certain vitamins is harmful and can lead to toxicity. High storage levels of some vitamins leads to toxic symptoms called Hypervitaminosis. Generally, toxic levels of vitamins are achieved through high supplement intake and not from dietary sources. Toxicities of fat-soluble vitamins can also be caused by a large intake of highly fortified foods, but foods rarely deliver dangerous levels of fat-soluble vitamins.
